I recently spent some time at the Baltimore Museum of Art and, to be frank, was quite puzzled by some of the art that's housed in such an institution. Now granted, art is in the eye of the beholder. I am open to many ideas and concepts, which is why I love contemporary art the most. It seems to skate on the edge of art and what the hell? Example: a square on the floor with one hundred mason jars of different sizes in it. Or the artist who ate various fruits, sewed the peels back together, and placed them on display to watch them rot naturally. There is an interesting exhibit there by Franz West-who designs art to be hands on-you can sit on some of it, touch some of it..interesting fellow. IF you have the desire to pick up his giant paper mache q-tip and play with it in a secret room.
I don't get it, but perhaps you aren't supposed to get it.
